I never thought I would be too interested in teaching social studies specifically, because I'm much more of a math and science person, but I am surprisingly interested in it so far. Reading some other blogs online, and learning about fun things in history really is fun. Maybe I just remember being lectured to and taking millions of notes in middle and high school, and not really absorbing anything that I learned. But now, having to research things that I will be teaching, there really is a lot of interesting stuff out there. History and social studies is much more exciting when I see it from a elementary schooler's eyes. Projects, dramas, poems, artistic interpretations, songs, and dances make history much more fun... and it makes me want to teach it and get my kids excited too! Can't wait :)
